Top 5 Shows To See In London!

Hi guys!

I hope you're all well? Firstly, I apologise for my absence over the last month or so. I've been super busy! I celebrated my 22nd birthday ('I don't know about you but I'm feeling 22'.. ahem!), I met up with friends/family, I went to Paris for a long weekend and I've been to a few shows in London.

Going to the theatre is one of my absolute favourite things to do here in London. One of my actual bucket list goals is to see every West End and Broadway show in London and NYC. I'm very lucky to live so close to the theatres and I plan to take full advantage of that! However, for those of you that may not live quite so close but plan to travel to London in the future, I thought I'd share with you my favourite five 'must see' shows!

Here goes!

Wicked - The Apollo Theatre - Victoria

Wicked is definitely my favourite show that I've seen so far. I adore the soundtrack (I downloaded it onto my phone where only the most loved songs make it) and I love the story! It's a mix of magic, comedy, tears and above all friendship goals! Wicked is the untold story of The Wizard Of Oz and what made the 'Wicked Witch Of The West' so, well.. Wicked?

Everything about this show is brilliant. From the actual theatre itself (it's small in size so you get a decent seat regardless of whether you're in the stalls or the royal circle etc..), the stage lay out/designs (so pretty!) and most importantly the cast. I experienced my first and only ''goosebumps moment' during the performance of Elphaba's Defying Gravity (Wicked's most popular song), she was amazing! I've seen the show three times now and I plan to see it many more times!

One things for certain, you'll never look at The Wizard Of Oz the same way again!

Memphis - The Shaftesbury Theatre - Shaftesbury Avenue

Memphis is one of West End's newest musicals in town.. and what a show this is! It currently stars the very talented Beverley Knight and Matt Cardle as the show's leading acts! This musical is based in 1950's Memphis (America) and concentrates highly on the music industries attitude towards 'Black music'. It also shows the then forbidden romance between a Black singer and a White wannabe radio host.

The show in whole is a bit of a heart breaker from start to finish. You spend the whole time wishing for nothing but the best for the on stage couple despite knowing the awful events that went down in history. The whole cast is extremely talented and the story itself is written and performed so well.

You'll be dancing one minute and crying the next. A must see!

Mamma Mia! - The Novello Theatre - Aldwych

Mamma Mia! is an amazing light hearted musical that is guaranteed to put you in the best of moods! And let's face it.. who doesn't love a bit of Abba? This show is set in sunny Greece and is the story of a young girl about to get married and on a quest to find her father to walk her down the aisle. Turns out, her mother had a rather wild month 20 years ago and got pregnant from one of the three men she slept with. Sophie invites all three men to her wedding and in turn gets to know all about them. But which one is her real father?

The show includes all of Abba's greatest hits and they surprisingly fit in perfectly for the storyline! This is such a fun show to go and see and is brilliant for all age groups! It will have you laughing from the moment it kicks off to the moment it ends. Be warned, you will be up dancing for the final songs.. wear comfy shoes!

No other show has the power to make you feel like you've been on a summer holiday to the Mediterranean!

The Lion King - The Lyceum Theatre - Aldwych

The Lion King is probably one of London's most popular shows and with reason! Based on what happens to be my favourite Disney movie, this show is fun for all the family! This is a fantastic production and has the most amazing singers, dancers, costume designers and musicians ever! You'll also be in for a right treat if you sit in the stalls (hint: keep a look out for the aisle seats)!

This show is so cleverly done and really is one of my favourite shows to see (three times and counting). Much like the film it makes you laugh and cry! It's great to see Simba, Nala, Mufasa, Rafiki, Scar, Zazu, Timone, Pumba and many more of your favourites come to life in front of you!

A truly 'wild' show which will have you 'roaring' with laughter (oh God.. someone stop me!).

Thriller Live - The Lyric Theatre - Shaftesbury Avenue

Thriller Live is the most recent show I've seen and I absolutely loved it! Unlike the above shows, this is not a 'play' or a 'story'. This is simply a group of very talented singers, dancers and performers celebrating the wonderful Michael Jackson's greatest hits (from the Jackson 5 days to his very successful solo career). The cast really try and involve the audience as much as possible and they have you dancing, singing and clapping along with them!

If you're a fan of Michael Jackson or simply enjoy music concerts, this might really interest you! It manages to be fun, funny and talented all at once! The cast really put on a brilliant show from start to finish (how do you dance and sing that well after such a long time?!). It's also opposite the wonderful Theatre Cafe which you can have coffee/cakes in whilst listening to theatre classics!

You'll be 'thrilled' to be involved in such a great show (why am I drinking wine whilst typing this post?).

I'd also really recommend seeing The Bodyguard which is unfortunately not available in London at the moment but is currently touring! This was by far one of my favourite shows to see and Alexandra Burke (the leading lady) is a gem!

I hope you've enjoyed this post and if you are thinking of visiting London to see a show this has helped in some way!

Let me know what your favourite musical is or which one you'd like to see in future (I'd personally love to see Les Miserables or Charlie And The Chocolate Factory).
